SHERWOOD FORESTERS MUSEUM
ASSISTANT CURATOR / ARCHIVIST
Eddie Edwards BEM took over the post of Assistant Curator and Archivist in December 2004. Prior to taking up this post, he had been working in Health and Safety & Fire Prevention.
He served both in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) and The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in the Corps of Drums and as Company Sergeant Major.
ADMINISTRATION
Andy
McDougall the Admin Officer served in the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards
for 22 years before leaving in 1991 and joining the MOD Civil Service.
Since 2000 he has provided the admin support to the WFR Museum (Sherwood
Foresters Collection) and Regimental Headquarters The Mercian Regiment
in Nottingham. He built and maintains this website.
THE VOLUNTEERS
Mr
Cliff Housley the Regimental Historian served in the Sherwood Foresters
for 14 years before leaving in 1969 and joining Nottinghamshire Constabulary.
From 1998 until 2004 Cliff was employed with the Sherwood Foresters Museum
as Assistant Curator and Archivist. On retirement he was invited to become
a Museum Trustee. He continues voluntarily to serve the Museum in his
role as Regimental Historian by giving talks to local Community Groups
and working closely with the Archivist.
He has written and published several books on the History of the Regiment.
The
Reverend J Clive Tougher provides Community Talks to various groups in
Derby and south west Derbyshire.
Prior to taking up this voluntary post, he had been the Education Officer of this museum and prior to that was teaching in the Midlands, his final school being at Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
He has served as a Teacher representative on SCAA, Derbyshire Local Authority.and as Chairman of Examiners for GCSE and A Levels at Manchester.
Mr
Mel Siddons a retired BT Engineer, is currently assisting in digitising
the complete medal and photographic collection within the Archives.
He has many years experience and extensive knowledge on medals, specialising in the Sherwood Foresters and the Boer War, he also catalogues and conditions our extensive collection as well as re-ribbonning and mounting the medals for display in the Museum.
Mr
Michael Kirkby Freelance military historian specializing in 18th and 19th
century British and Western warfare provides Community Talks on behalf
of the Museum on the Napoleonic War, Victorian Army, American Civil War,
Memorial and Remembrance, Tactical and Weaponry Revolutions. Michael has
a Masters Degree in British Military
History from Chester University. He has written "The Changing Role
of the British Military Museum", "Wellington's Guns: A Study
of His Conflict with the Royal Artillery 1808-1815 (Royal Artillery Museum,
Woolwich)" Currently working on The Last Redcoat.
Robin
Tilston and Gary Crosby, both ex 3 WFR (V), regularly attend the Archives
to catalogue and name the 3 WFR (V) photographic collection.
